I have done a modified version of something I did before, The Long Shawl (how-to is described there). Unfortunately, these pics really don’t do it justice, the color is really beautiful, but the pics don’t capture the depth of it. Anyway, here it is:
The Shorter Long Shawl, made with Lion Brand Homespun yarn in color Lagoon, size 13 needles. Its made exactly the same way as I described in the Long Shawl (worked longways), but this time I only cast on 120 for a shorter and more manageable garment.
The only negative about this shawl is that the long fringe can put hair on certain items. Its okay if you wear it with jeans, but the yarn will put fuzz on anything made of yarn, or regular pants, etc. (Its just because the fringe is very long and not trapped, the knitted part doesn’t shed.) I’m not terribly worried about that kind of thing myself, but I thought I’d mention it.
(The Long Shawl was based on a pattern: “Earthly Delight”, designed by Suzan Lee. First appeared in the Holiday ’04 issue of Family Circle Easy Knitting. Also available in the book Family Circle easy accessories, 50 chic projects to knit and crochet. 2005. Sixth&Spring Books, New York, NY. pg. 41.)
